Founding Partner

David is the founding partner of Global Immigration Legal Team, bringing more than 30 years of distinguished legal experience to his leadership role at the firm. Since 1994, David has served as a trusted advocate for companies and individuals alike, guiding them through the life-changing milestones inherent in the immigration process. Prior to establishing the Global Immigration Legal Team, he founded and led the Law Offices of David E. Piver, where he spent decades building a national reputation for excellence, legal creativity and strategic legal advocacy.

 

David’s practice is rooted in a deep understanding that behind every legal petition is a person’s dream or a company’s or a family’s future. He advises both corporate and individual clients across the full spectrum of U.S. immigration law and policy, including high-level business strategy and dedicated family advocacy. David serves as a strategic partner for clients navigating complex business immigration pathways, including H-1B, L-1, L-1B, E-1, E-2, O-1, PERM, EB-1, 2, and 3, and TN visas, to help innovators and industries thrive. Within his family immigration practice, he provides compassionate, creative and comprehensive counsel to families seeking to bring spouses, parents, siblings, and other loved ones together, ensuring that the legal process serves to strengthen the bonds of family.

David works primarily with clients in the IT consulting, insurance,technology, sports, manufacturing, finance, and entertainment industries. His practice also serves the nonprofit sector, supporting religious organizations and their member employees (R-1), as well as the academic and medical fields for students (F-1), and researchers and foreign medical graduates (J-1).


David has extensive experience in obtaining approvals for complex cases such as Labor Certification (PERM) and inter-company transfers of executives and essential personnel (L-1A/L-1B). He is especially known for his work with individuals of extraordinary ability, including scientists, artists, athletes and scholars, helping them secure permanent residency to pursue their unique talents in the U.S. without the requirement of a formal job offer.


David is recognized nationally as a creative problem solver and strategist for successfully helping individuals and organizations resolve the most complex immigration legal matters. For example, he has been featured in The New York Times and Aljazeera English for his pioneering advocacy and representation of immigrants who serve in the military but are denied immigration benefits due to bureaucratic mismanagement.


Outside of the office, David enjoys serving on nonprofit boards, writing, biking, and hiking.
