Erin O'Brien
Associate Attorney
Practice Area: Removal Defense, Family Immigration, Humanitarian & Special Relief, Federal Practice
Erin is an associate attorney at Global Immigration Legal Team, bringing her extensive experience in humanitarian relief to her current position. Prior to joining the private bar, Erin was a Staff Attorney at HIAS Pennsylvania, where she represented Unaccompanied Children before the Immigration Courts and USCIS as they sought relief to remain in the United States with lawful status. Throughout her career, Erin has helped children, adults, and families navigate the complexities of removal defense and family-based immigration to determine the best path towards permanent residency.
Erin focuses on advising individuals on their immigration relief and represents clients before the Immigration Court and USCIS in a variety of matters, including asylum, family petitions, adjustment of status, and humanitarian forms of relief such as VAWA, U visas, and T Visas. Erin has extensive knowledge of Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and the legal processes for immigrant children.
Erin works with individuals to file affirmative applications to seek residency or naturalization with USCIS, and also with children, adults, and families that are in removal proceedings in Immigration Court.
Erin’s background in working with unaccompanied children has provided her extensive training in trauma-informed lawyering. This background informs how Erin represents her clients. It is Erin’s goal that every client feels supported and understood as they move through the immigration process.
During law school, Erin was a student attorney in Drexel’s Federal Litigation and Appeals Clinic, where she represented clients before USCIS, the Immigration Court, and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). Before and during law school, Erin previously worked at Esperanza Immigration Legal Services and Nationalities Service Center.
Outside of the office, Erin enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time at the beach.
