Monica Singh

Business Immigration Department Chair

Monica brings extensive experience across all areas of immigration law, including family-based immigration and removal defense, but has focused her practice for more than a decade on employment-based pathways to the United States. As Chair of GILT’s Business Immigration Department, she advises employers and professionals on work-authorized nonimmigrant classifications and long-term strategies for obtaining U.S. lawful permanent residence. Monica was named a “Rising Star” in immigration law by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers Magazine from 2014 to 2016. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Philadelphia Chapter and served on its Executive Committee for five years, including as Chapter Chair from 2019 to 2020. Known for her tenacious advocacy, Monica relentlessly challenges unjust USCIS decisions through strategic administrative advocacy and, when necessary, federal court litigation.

Monica represents clients across a broad spectrum of employment-based immigration matters, including nonimmigrant classifications such as: E, F, H, L, O, P, R, and TN; immigrant and nonimmigrant waivers; the labor

certification process; extraordinary and exceptional ability petitions; I-360 petitions; I-9 audits; and naturalization. She also has successfully handled numerous requests for humanitarian parole and deferred action, including cases involving medical necessity and other compelling circumstances.

Monica advises and represents employers and individuals—including professionals, unskilled workers, athletes, religious workers, and students—across the country in employment-based nonimmigrant matters and the pursuit of U.S. lawful permanent residence.

Monica is recognized for her practical, solutions-driven approach to complex immigration matters. She regularly advises IT consulting firms and other employers on H-1B compliance, assists scientific researchers in pursuing National Interest Waivers, counsels religious organizations on employment-based sponsorship, and represents students seeking reinstatement of status. In especially complex cases, Monica has successfully used nunc pro tunc strategies to secure nonimmigrant status where status lapses or inadvertent violations might otherwise have jeopardized a client’s immigration objectives.

Outside of the office, Monica spends her time fitness boxing, practicing yoga and playing the dhol.
